Cabela's Dove Popper Dip

Who doesn't love a good dip!? Have a few friends over, turn on the game, throw back some carbs - there's no better weekend! This dove popper dip from Cook With Cabela's is sure to be a hit at your next get-together. With the right mix of heat and meat and cheese, you simply can't go wrong.

  • 12 jalapenos
  • 16oz bacon
  • 6 dove breasts
  • 8oz smoked cheddar
  • 8oz sour cream
  • 16oz cream cheese
  • 3Tbsp butter
  • 8oz bread crumbs


  1. Heat grill to 400°
  2. Blacken 12 jalapenos on grill
  3. Cook 16oz of bacon in cast iron skillet (save the grease!)
  4. Cook 6 dove breasts in cast iron skillet with bacon grease
  5. Grate 8oz of smoked cheddar cheese into a mixing bowl
  6. Chop cooked bacon into crumbles, set one handful aside & add rest to bowl
  7. Dice dove meat into ¼” pieces & add to bowl
  8. Remove seeds, skin, & dice jalapenos & add to bowl
  9. Soften 16oz of cream cheese & add to bowl, along with 8oz of sour cream
  10. Stir mixture thoroughly with fork
  11. Transfer mixture to large cast iron skillet
  12. Place onto the grill
  13. Set a separate cast iron skillet on the grill and melt 3Tbsp of butter therein
  14. Add & cook bread crumbs until brown
  15. Transfer crumbs & spread evenly onto top of mixture
  16. Top dip with crumbled bacon that was set aside in step 6
  17. Cover & cook for 30 minutes
  18. Serve with chips of choice and enjoy!
