If you’re like us, any excuse to DIY in your garage is a good one. And when it comes to target shooting, there are plenty of opportunities to build your own target stands. Anybody can buy an all-in-one target and stand, but these limit your options for customization. So let’s look at an option that is customizable – you can build this so your target is any height you like.
We’re impressed with Champion’s line of 3/8"-thick AR500-steel targets. They’re available in a variety of sizes and configurations, allowing you total customization when it comes to setting up your range.
Building a wooden frame for Champion’s targets is fairly simple and can be done with tools most of us already have. You’ll need to make a trip to your hardware store for lumber and components, but each stand should cost you around $45. These are the basic tools you’ll need: saw, drill, 3/8" drill bit, crescent wrench. If these tools are readily available, it's time to make a trip to the hardware store for the rest of the materials.
