Berkley pro and former Bassmaster Classic and B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year champion Skeet Reese loads his boat with the finest bass fishing equipment on the planet. Rods, reels, line, lures, marine electronics, trolling motor, etc. So, what are three of the "go-to" items Reese has no matter where he finds himself chasing bass when the big bucks are on the line? Keep reading and find out.
The Powerbait Pit Boss from Berkley Fishing
"Hands down the Berkley Powerbait Pit Boss softbait is always in my boat," said Reese. "The Pit Boss is a fish catching machine. It is such a versatile lure and can be fished in a variety of ways.
"It was originally designed as a compact pitching and flipping bait, with the ribs to displace water, the arms for movement, and the hook slot. It is also excellent to fish deeper on a Chompers wobble-head football jig, on the back of a swim jig, swim it by itself or as a jig trailer. It is a terrific lure. You can now get it in the PowerBait line as well as the original Havoc version."
Berkley 100% Fluorocarbon Line
"I always have a spool of 8-pound Berkley 100% fluorocarbon fishing line," said Reese. "It's my go-to leader material when I am finesse fishing. I'll spool with Berkley nanofil as my main line and the fluorocarbon leader.
"It's the perfect line combination when there is a finesse bite, or I need to go light to save the day. It's what I usually have ready for shaky head fishing, drop-shotting, or swimming a grub."
Berkley Bottom Hopper Finesse Bait
"The 6.25-inch Berkley Havoc Bottom Hopper is my go-to finesse bait," said Reese. "Whether it's on a Carolina rig, or any other finesse rig, I have them in the boat. I have a variety of colors with me, and am ready if there is going to be a finesse bite."
