Cole was using a small hook with a swivel 14'' up the line and a 1 ounce sinker above the swivel. Tip the hook with half a night crawler and cast into the deepest part of the river and set the rod in a holder. When the rod tip starts to bounce set the hook.

Nice batch of suckers from a river in Northern Wisconsin. These fish will soon be pressure cooked in a canner. Suckers are very good if pressure cooked and can taste allot like tuna fish.

In the spring the pike tend to spawn almost as the ice goes off the lakes in the North and in places like North Dakota where the game fishing season is open year round it is a great opportunity to land big pike in the shallows.
