This walleye was caught in early April in Northern Wisconsin while fishing for crappies on a Frabill Straight Line Combo with two pound test line on a Lindy Frostee jig tipped with a crappie minnow.

Storms continue to track across the Northern Icefishing Range making access tough in many areas. The long range forecast promises good ice through middle April and longer in the far North.

Crappies are going on Lindy Frostee jigs fished on a Frabill Straightline comb.  Keith Worrall of OFM on the Ice recommends tipping the jig with a waxworm, and stresses the importance of light fishing line for late ice crappies.

There's not much that's more fun for a young angler than catching panfish through the ice. These pannies were caught on a Frabill Straightline combo, perfect for fishing shallow through the ice. The Straightline reel doesn't promote line twist even with the lightest of line, allowing for a more controlled presentation and better success on finicky panfish!

March ice fishing and Crappies are synonomous, and the bite is on! These nice panfish fell for a Lindy® Little Joe Techni-Glo® Frostee Jig tipped with a waxworm, a very effective presentation for late ice crappies. A Frostee Jig is best presented on very light line. Berkley Micro Ice in 2# or 3# is a perfect fit.

This ice shack was hauled out onto six inches of ice in the early ice season of 2013. Two days later it rained a half an inch and softened the ice just enough for it to go through. Make sure you have at least a foot of good ice before you place your ice shack.

These fish were caught on a small tungsten jig in 14 feet of water near brush piles while fishing a point just on the break off the main basin.

Sixteen inch crappie caught on a tungsten jig in 16' of water. This fish came in on the Humminbird just four feet under the ice.

After drilling over 50 holes with the ice auger I finally found the fish on the Aqua-Vu in 10' of water on a small lake during the late ice season. When fishing clear lakes, the Aqua-Vu can be a great tool to help you locate and catch more fish. I often will not wet a line until I know im in the right area.
